about

When Jeff and I started making music again, this was the first song we finished. We spent months adjusting the beat, changing the lyrics, re-recording hooks, and listening to mixes titled things like "Final Mix For Real This Time Number 34."

After not releasing music for over 7 years, we decided this one wasn't our best reintroduction into the musical landscape as it's kind of depressing and dense, but we still really love the song.

I've got friends who dedicate their entire lives to lessening their carbon footprint and reducing their impact on the planet. I've got homies who believe that since billionaires and politicians promote climate change, it means climate change isn't real.

I'm, per usual, a man in the middle; someone who has solar panels on the roof, grows his own food, and washes plastic bags so that we can re-use them, but I'm not above copping things I don't need or driving when I could walk or take public transportation or voting for politicians who end up bombing flourishing environments into wastelands.

I've gotta be better. We've gotta be better. I say those things with full knowledge that the cruel joke that underlies the sentiment and intention of the "save the planet" mentality is that the planet will be here long after we've made it uninhabitable in pursuit of money and power.

But contrary to the misanthropic trope that is all the wave right now, I do love people. I love our hopes, triumphs, struggles, goofiness, pain, and all the other things that make us us. I also love trees and stick bugs and ferns and polar bears and jellyfish.

I'd like all of those things to stick around for a little while longer on this rock, so we've got some changes to make, both big and small. After all, it's all we got.

***LYRICS***

They say that everything’s dying, well shit, they ain’t lying
Whole ocean got a million little plastic made islands
Been raising alarms since we were training space pilots
7 billion strong acting like a plague virus
I got too much shit, consume too much shit
I cop too much shit, I use too much shit
Done evolved with the ways that us humans live
So smart 'til the day the computers glitch
The debt is humongous, a take with minimal give back
With jellyfish suffering the crippling impact
Dinner party guest list, criminal big cats
Off with they heads, finna nibble a rich snack
Zig zag dominoes, gift bags round our throats
Piling up til we live in pitch black monochrome
Pushed so hard, but what’s the cost of the envelope
Did it for some ducats, left the laws of Galapagos
My fam like, “Thank God it’s heating up
I’m tired of the winter season freezing us”
Well, you can joke, you can chuckle a few
But that’s only because it ain’t fucking with you
Won’t be funny when that water ain’t safe no more
When the air tastes like diet agent orange
They be like, “Damn, Luda, what you hating for?
Full steam ahead, let’s stay the course”
See a PSA, share a cry for creatures
Then go back to a dump truck life of leisure
Prolly wouldn’t ever even have to go that far
If everything stacked up in our own backyard
Instead it’s in the seven seas and it’s spilling in the meadows
And leaking from the military zillion dollar vessels
I am but a pebble making ripples in the magma
A living breathing being who can't solve the captcha

Uh Yeah, it’s all we got
Yeah, uh, I said it’s all we got
Whole lot of money done called the shots
And laid waste to the world, told it all to rot
Yeah uh but it’s all we got
Yeah uh, I said it’s all we got
Ain't no way to get off this rock
One home one plot, yeah it’s all we got

My wifey scanning all the groceries, checking out the palm oil
I’m in the garden tilling up the mud and topsoil
I’m low faith, stone faced like a gargoyle
Looking like the world’s end, wonderland is hard boiled
Royalty is wasteful, spoiled and ungrateful
Unconcerned if our mortal coil is untangled
Star spangled white flag waving over garbage
Instead of cleaning up, folks is dreaming up a Mars trip
I've been so in love with this magical place
A lonely pale blue dot out traveling space
Full of heaven in the form of natural -scapes
They’d destroy in a second for some capital gains
I'll be that hazardous waste when they plant my skeleton
Lift my 21 grams to the dancing elements
Until then I’ll be doing up my damndest
Cause we ain’t the only mother fuckers on the planet
Damage, damage, look at all the damage
Bled paradise and we labeled it advancement
Gonna need a lot more than prayers and a bandage
Sometimes I feel it’d better if everybody vanished
But we’re here, commandeer the short stint we living in
Might as well be altering the course to oblivion
I’m divvying funds, I got love for the Truffula Trees
So I ain’t throwing skrilla at the Onceler’s team
Turn old items into new concoctions
Like a deckhand building from the ruins and flotsam
Locked-in, checking off, moving down on the list
Legs power the trip, sun powers the crib
Yeah, there ain’t a quick fix but at least it’s something
It’s a ride or die rally cause our time been coming
Keep it a googleplex with our age old genus
This rock will be fine, yo, this place don’t need us
